International Chinese Gastronomy Culture Foundation

The International Chinese Gastronomy Culture Foundation is a non-profit organization based in California, United States, dedicated to promoting Chinese gastronomic culture on an international scale. Our foundation has a global vision and aims to facilitate diverse exchanges and interactions related to Chinese gastronomy culture worldwide. We sponsor various scholarly research on Chinese gastronomy culture through initiatives such as research grants, conferences, publications, and other related activities. Additionally, the Foundation actively supports interdisciplinary research on Chinese food culture, including fields such as history, anthropology, environmental studies, material culture, and the exploration of how Chinese gastronomic culture interacts with other practices. Our mission is to elevate the global influence of Chinese gastronomy culture and foster innovative academic exchange in this field.

However, the Foundation is also committed to supporting other types of projects that align with its mission, even if they do not necessarily fit into these specific categories.

We provide sponsorship for various research projects related to gastronomy culture. Applications for project awards are evaluated based on merit and financial need. Priority is given to research projects that significantly advance the Foundation’s mission and goals, encourage emerging scholars, and support innovative scholarship in Chinese gastronomy culture.

Our foundation offers financial support for individuals attending top academic activities. We provide travel grants for individuals attending the following conferences (but not limited to): the Annual Meetings of the American Oriental Society (Western Branch), the Annual Conference of the Association for Asian Studies, and the Oxford Food Symposium.

Cultural projects 2024-03-11

In the first quarter of 2024, The International Chinese Gastronomy Foundation co-sponsored a distinguished international academic event, “New Approaches to the Study of Traditional Chinese Food Culture: A Workshop,” scheduled for March 9–10 at the University of California, Santa Barbara. This workshop will host 15 scholars from North America and Asia, representing 10 globally acclaimed universities. The conference will explore themes such as “Sensual Food,” “Pure Food,” “Healing Food,” “Deadly Food,” “Bizarre Food,” “(Anti-)Social Food,” and “Tea.” This workshop brings together top scholars and cutting-edge research in Chinese gastronomy, literature, history, and culture, reflecting the latest trends and new directions in the study of Chinese food culture.
